In English garden history, a bowling green is a finely-laid, close-mown and rolled stretch of flat lawn for playing the game of Bowls, a fashionable sport from the early sixteenth century. The Mellieha Bay Hotel decided to install an outdoor 5 Rink Championship size Bowling Green which is unique in Malta.

It is said that bowls is a game that can be played by anyone from the age of nine to ninety and indeed we encourage the participation of our guests in this sport. Patrons can make use of the bowling green during specially organised Hotel activities which are led by our entertainment team or alternatively during private sessions for which they are rented out.

All the necessary equipment (including bowls and shoes) is supplied by the Hotel and the views from the Bowling Green are stunning.
